Under the guidance of the DND Coordinating Officer and the Deputy Coordinating Officer, the Estates and Elections Section of the Directorate of Law/Compensation Benefits, Pensions & Estates carries out the administrative process associated with ensuring that the Canadian Armed Forces elector’s right to vote is protected. This includes Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) presentations on the federal electoral process under Part 11 - Special Voting Rules of the Canada Elections Act, as well as administration of that CAF vote during a federal general election. In addition, all Canadian Armed Forces electors are advised of any upcoming provincial general elections and federal by-elections, in order to ensure that they have the opportunity to vote.
