FRONTIER SENTINEL 2013 Canada and U.S.A

The Canadian Armed Forces will participate in an annual joint U.S.-Canada military exercise termed Exercise Frontier Sentinel 2013 from October 26 to November 5, 2013. The exercise aims to prepare the Department of National Defence, Canadian Armed Forces and other government departments, to execute various scenarios in the defence of North America and global defence operations. It will take place in various locations throughout the Maritime provinces, notably Halifax, Pictou and Port Hawkesbury, N.S., P.E.I., and along parts of the U.S. eastern seaboard.

Operation HAMLET Haiti

Operation HAMLET is the Canadian Forces’ participation in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti, which is commonly known by its French name, Mission des Nations Unies pour la stabilisation en Haïti, or the acronym MINUSTAH. A platoon of 34 personnel from the Canadian Army is currently operating within a Brazilian battalion (BRABAT) to support the MINUSTAH mandate. This one-time deployment will end in December 2013. Working with Brazilian personnel, the Canadian Forces members will assist Haitian security and stability efforts. The Canadian Forces platoon is comprised of personnel from 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group in Valcartier, Quebec city.

Operation ARTEMIS Arabian Sea region

Operation ARTEMIS is the Canadian Forces (CF) participation in maritime security and counter-terrorism operations in the Arabian Sea region with the multinational coalition task force CTF 150, which operates under Combined Maritime Forces (CMF).

Operation ATTENTION Afghanistan

The Canadian Forces participation in NATO's Training Mission in Afghanistan (NTM-A) - the international effort to assist the Afghan National Security Forces as they transition to full responsibility for security throughout Afghanistan in 2014.
