Student Financial Assistance Estimator

The Student Financial Assistance Estimator is an interactive Web application that can be used by students to estimate their annual student loan and grant amounts.

The estimator has been designed to show the amount of assistance you could potentially receive from the Canada Student Loans Program and participating provincial or territorial programs.

Since the amount of funding that you may receive varies from province to province, the values used in this tool are estimates. These assessments will be subject to criteria set by the individual provinces and territory.

Things you will need

  • Information relating to your income or family's income
  • Financial assets and investments (full-time only)
  • Tuition fees and education costs

Full-time course load

A full-time course load is 60 percent or more of a full course load. For students with permanent disabilities, 40 percent or more of a full course load is considered full-time. In all cases, the length of study should last for a period of at least 12 consecutive weeks at a designated educational institution.

Part-time course load

A part-time course load is between 20 and 59 percent of a full time course load. For students with permanent disabilities, 20 to 39 percent of a course load is considered part-time. Studies need to be undertaken at a designated educational institution.

Note:

The estimator is being updated with the latest enhancements to student financial assistance. If you had previously bookmarked the site on Canada.ca, it will still be visible. Any estimates generated by the tool will not accurately reflect the amount of grants and loans you may be eligible to receive. We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience during this time. For more information, please contact your provincial or territorial student financial assistance office.
