Aviation Document Booklet

Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) provides an Aviation Document Booklet (ADB) to flight crew members and air traffic controllers as evidence that they have qualified for certain aviation-related permits, licences, medical certificates and ratings.

All flight crew permits, licences and medical certificates shall be attached in the Aviation Document Booklet to allow the holder to exercise the privileges of their permit or licence. The exception is the Student Pilot Permit (SPP), which is a standalone document. Note: Do not apply for an Aviation Document Booklet if you only hold a Student Pilot Permit.

To obtain an ADB or to renew an expiring ADB, applicants are required to submit a completed "Application for an Aviation Document Booklet" form (TP 26-0726) and a passport style photograph to the TCCA regional office that holds their pilot licensing file.

Is your Aviation Document Booklet (ADB) expiring?

Transport Canada Civil Aviation regional offices will be accepting applications for ADB renewal 90 days prior to the 5 year expiry date – the date is found on the Personal Data page of the ADB. Holders should submit the "Application for an Aviation Document Booklet" form in a timely manner.
