People at Laurier

Dr. Tim Hegedus, Waterloo Lutheran Seminary Tim has taught New Testament and Early Christianity at Waterloo Lutheran Seminary since 1998. Prior to this he taught at the University of Toronto and at Wilfrid Laurier University. Tim sees numerous parallels between early Christianity and the situation in which the church today finds itself "post Christendom". As the church becomes more and more marginalized in western society the opportunity arises for Christians to re-discover the meaning of discipleship as humble service to others. In particular, Tim is interested in formulating a positive theological approach to other religions, beginning with a repudiation of Christian antisemitism and developing a new understanding of the church's relationship to Judaism. He has read widely in the field of Jewish-Christian and Mulsim-Christian relations and represents the ELCIC on the Canadian Christian Jewish Consultation and the National Christian Muslim Liaison Committee.
