Surveillance for Aquatic Animal Diseases
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency:
- analyzes data and contextual evidence for generating strategic surveillance plans, and
- substantiates the health status of aquatic animal regulated diseases at different levels (e.g., region, zone, compartment) and provides for the early detection of new and emerging diseases.
This information facilitates access to domestic and international markets by providing the basis for health certification and domestic disease control measures. It also provides the necessary information for international reporting purposes, as required by the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
