When to replace a child's car seat
Make sure your seat is up to date
Most children's car seats have an expiry date stamped on them. If yours is past its date, replace it. Can't find the date? Check the car seat's manual.
You should also replace a children's car seat or booster seat:
- If you've had a collision and your seat was in the car at the time - even if your child was not riding in the car during the crash.
- If the children's car seat shows signs of significant wear and tear or damage.
- When the child outgrows or becomes too heavy for your current seat. Check the manufacturer's instructions for height and weight limits.
Remember, there may be another model of restraint for the same stage that will still fit your child.
