Kouchibouguac National Park, New Brunswick, August
30, 2013 -- With fall colours at their best, Parks Canada invites you to come celebrate not one… but six weekends of Kouchibouguac Fabulous Fall Festival celebrations! This year`s festivities, scheduled from September 6th to October 13th, will feature 6 weekends of special themed activities for all ages, tastes and interests.

“Given the particular delights of the fall season at Kouchibouguac, we decided to extend and enrich our programming and special activities to really highlight this time of the year, while meeting the needs of our fall visitors,” said Danielle Richard, Visitor Experience Manager at Kouchibouguac National Park. “Each weekend has a theme for the types of activities planned, and a fun challenge for visitors to take on.”

“Although many of us are returning to September routines, there’s still time to enjoy the crisp freshness and burst of colours of the fall season at Kouchibouguac National Park,” said Richard. “We’re inviting our visitors to take advantage of this fabulous season for exploring the park and extending the camping season”, said Richard. “With the right equipment, some of the best camping can happen throughout September and October.”

The line-up for the Kouchibouguac Fabulous Fall Festival begins with the Watch Kouchibouguac weekend, September 6th, 7th and 8th. It’s a weekend to connect with nature, whether you’re into birds or stars. Learn the tips and tricks of birdwatching through an introductory workshop or guided excursion. You can also try to locate the North Star or look at the sun through our stargazing activities put on by the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.

Some of the other themes being explored this fall include: Art in the Park (Sept 13-15th), Celebrating Mi’kmaq Heritage (Sept 20-22nd), Move with Kouchibouguac (Sept 27-29th), Looking Back at Kouchibouguac (Oct 4-6th), and finally, the Kouchibouguac Festival of Colours (Oct 11-13th) also the week-end of the popular Luc Gallant Marathon (Oct 13th).

In addition to these special activities, some of the park’s most popular summer programming such as the Voyageur Canoe, the Wigwam Gatherings, and Lagoon Life, has been extended from Labour Day to the Thanksgiving weekend.
