Small parts in toys
Don't risk it
Small objects present choking, ingestion and inhalation hazards to young children. Any toy likely to be used by a child under three years old should be large -- with no small, detachable parts when used in a reasonable, foreseeable way.
Common toy hazards
- Puzzles with small pieces
- Puzzles with small pegs
- Dolls, plush toys and soft toys with small attachments (e.g., eyes, noses, decorations)
- Rattles and other toys for young children made of brittle plastic
- Toys with battery compartments that do not close securely
