Pensions in Canada and related benefits

The Government of Canada delivers two programs that provide retirement income:

  • The Old Age Security program provides you with a pension at age 65 if you have lived in Canada for at least 10 years. If you have a low income, you may be eligible for other benefits as early as age 60.
  • The Canada Pension Plan provides you and your family with partial replacement of earnings in the case of retirement, disability or death.
