The Governor General prorogued the First Session of the 41st Parliament on Friday, September 13, 2013. The Prorogation of Parliament marks the end of a parliamentary session. For more information, please consult the Prorogation of Parliament section of the Compendium of House of Commons Procedure.

The Speech from the Throne, which will open the Second Session of the 41st Parliament, is scheduled to be read on Wednesday, October 16, 2013.
