War Veterans Allowance (WVA)

The War Veterans Allowance (WVA) provides monthly financial assistance to help low-income Veterans or their Survivors* meet their basic needs.

The amount provided is based on income, marital status and if you have any dependants.

The War Veterans Allowance rate is adjusted quarterly based on the Consumer Price Index.

If you qualify for WVA, you may also qualify for other VAC services and benefits. See Related Benefits for WVA recipients.

* Note: Surviving spouses, common-law partners or orphans can continue to receive WVA at the "married rate" for a period of one year from the date the Veteran passed away.
