Census file at the Research Data Centres (RDCs)

Major characteristics

The 2011 Census file in the RDCs is a response database (sample to be determined) in flat file format. The file includes person, household and family identifiers which enables analysis of the demographic data (age, sex, marital status and language) collected during the 2011 Census.

To access the microdata housed in the RDCs, researchers submit a project proposal to the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and Statistics Canada.
