How to access our products and services

You can access Statistics Canada information from this website. Some products are available in print or on CD-ROM. They can be consulted at the Statistics Canada Library in Ottawa and in many libraries across Canada.

Our website has the most up-to-date information about our country and our society, including:

• The Daily, our official news release, is published every working day. As well as being Statistics Canada’s first line of communication with the media and the public, it provides a comprehensive one-stop overview of new information, analyses, products and services available. You can select your subject(s) of interest and customize your free subscription to The Daily. You will receive hyperlinks by e-mail to articles and product release announcements only on the subject(s) you have selected on the days they appear in The Daily.

• Summary Tables, a comprehensive series of downloadable tables, updated regularly, dealing with the economy, the land, the people and the state. It is possible to search by subject, province and territory or metropolitan area.

• Community profiles contains free information for all Canadian communities (cities, towns, villages, Indian reserves and Indian settlements, etc.), for counties or their equivalents and for metropolitan areas.

• The Census provides information about the demographic, social and economic characteristics of the Canadian population and about dwelling characteristics.

• Maps and geography provides easy access to a variety of maps, geographical products and reference material.

• Our products and services put Canadian socio-economic events in context.

• CANSIM database offers authoritative data on labour, manufacturing, investment, and international trade. With over 35 million time series, CANSIM allows you to track trends and extract data on virtually every aspect of Canadian life.

Libraries

Print publications and other selected products can be consulted at the Statistics Canada Library in Ottawa and are also held in many libraries across Canada as a result of funding provided by the Depository Services Program (DSP).
