2006 Census home page

Every five years, the census provides a statistical portrait of Canada and its people. The most recent Census of Population was on May 16, 2006.

2006 Census of Agriculture home page

The Census of Agriculture is conducted every five years at the same time as the Census of Population. It provides a profile of Canadian agricultural operations, including information on number of farms, crops, land use, land management practices, livestock and poultry, farm machinery, operating expenses and gross farm receipts. The Census of Agriculture also profiles farm operators based on various characteristics.

Aboriginal Population Profile, 2006 Census

The Aboriginal Population Profile is the presentation of various 2006 data for the Aboriginal identity population in Canadian communities.

Federal Electoral District (FED) Profile, 2006 Census

This profile contains information from the 2006 Census for federal electoral districts. A federal electoral district is an area represented by a member of the House of Commons.

2006 Community profiles

These profiles provide community-level information from the 2006 Census of Population for Census agglomerations (CA) and Census metropolitan areas (CMA).

Census tract profiles, 2006 Census

These profiles provide community-level information from the 2006 Census of Population for census tracts (CT). A census tract is a small, relatively stable geographic area that usually has a population of 2,500 to 8,000.

Census Trends, 2006 Census

This product presents a series of summary data trends spanning three censuses: 2006, 2001 and 1996.

Data products

These products contain statistical information about each characteristic of the population, households, dwellings and families as measured in the census.

The 2006 Census Dictionary provides detailed information on every aspect of the Census of Population and Census of Agriculture along with an overview of each phase of the census, from content determination to data dissemination.
