Question

I received a suspicious email that appears to be from Canada Post. What should I do?

Answer

An email is being circulated from tracking@canadapost.ca informing customers that Canada Post tried to deliver a package. The email asks customers to select a link or visit a Post Office to arrange redelivery. This email is NOT from Canada Post and should be deleted.

When Canada Post makes a delivery attempt when you're not home, we leave a delivery notice card at your door or in your mailbox. We do not contact you by email.

What you can do

  • Do not select any links or open attachments. Delete the suspicious email immediately.
  • If you are expecting a parcel, get a status update directly from our website, using Track.
  • If you're not sure if an email is spam:
    • Look for the classic hallmarks of spam such as spelling and grammatical errors.
    • If you are not sure, go directly to the company's website rather than selecting a link within an email.
