Question

What can I do if my community mailbox lock is frozen?

Answer

Try applying some lock de-icer to your mailbox lock. Then, if the lock opens, put a drop of household lubricant into the keyhole and open and close the lock a couple of times to work in the lubricant. You can buy these items at any hardware store.

Note: avoid commercial grade lock de-icers as they may require special processes and protective wear. We do not recommend you use heat to de-ice the lock as it may interfere with the lock’s lubrication.
