Payback for Writers and Payback for Visual Artists

The 2020 Payback claim period is now closed.

All creators affiliated with Access Copyright as of December 31, 2019 will receive the Payback base payment. Those who have claimed works published between 1999 and 2018 will receive a supplementary payment, which will be calculated based on the total amount of works claimed for those years.

Access Copyright staff are currently working from home due to COVID-19. If you have sent your Payback claim or an update for a previous claim to us by regular mail, rest assured that your updates will be reflected in your 2020 Payback claim.

We know that your Access Copyright royalty payments are critical and important to you, particularly right now, so we are looking into distributing this year’s Payback payments in October instead of November as usual. If you have not already, please visit our website where we have listed many resources for Canada’s creators and publishers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
