When Dalton Ross left town to study aboard at Belmont University in London, he figured his mother would miss having him around. As a joke, he sent her a cardboard cutout of himself.

“I just thought sending a life-size cutout of me unannounced to my mom would give my family a laugh,” he told Aplus. “I thought maybe they’d put it in the living room corner until I got back to remember I exist.”

Far from it. Little did he know, his mother, Susan Talley, had grander things in store for her surrogate cardboard son. Using the cut out in place of Dalton, she arranged photo shoots of “him” in a series of scenes: Having a nice date (with Barbie), tucked into bed with a copy of Dr. Seuss’s “Oh the places you’ll go,” by the water playing with the dog, at the doctor’s, at a family dinner and a basketball game, amongst other places.

The posting has racked hundreds of comments on imgur, many impressed with Susan Talley’s imagination, not to mention devotion to her son.

“This is spectacular,” wrote IamNEMesis. “Give mom a high five from me!”

“She misses you dude,” katherineincolor. “Take her to dinner.”

Oh the places your cardboard cutout will go…
