  • Welcome To Vocativ

    9,668 views 5 months ago
Vocativ is a media and technology venture that explores the deep web to discover original stories, hidden perspectives, emerging trends, and unheard voices from around the world. Our audience is the young, diverse, social generation that wants to share what’s interesting and what’s valuable. We reach them with a visual language, wherever they are naturally gathering.

Our storytellers and our audience are in this together, drawing inspiration from one another. We are smart, creative and inclusive.

At the heart of Vocativ is our exclusive technology, a place where science meets storytelling. More than 80% of the Internet sits beyond the grasp of Google, in an area called the deep web. Vocativ explores this vast, uncharted space, which includes everything from public forums and databases to social platforms and commerce sites.

Our proprietary technology, Verne, allows us to search and monitor the deep web to spot breaking news quickly, and discover stories that otherwise might not be told. Often we know what we're looking for, such as witnesses near the front lines of a conflict or data related to an emerging political movement. We also uncover unexpected information, like pro-gun publications giving away assault rifles to fans of their Facebook pages.

Vocativ is highly visual with a heavy emphasis on data visualizations, original video and short documentaries. Our content is heavily distributed across digital platforms, and our videos air on MSNBC.

Founded by Mati Kochavi and headquartered in New York City, Vocativ employs dozens of journalists, producers, data analysts, engineers, designers, and developers. Gregory Gittrich is the Chief Content Officer, Danna Rabin is the Chief Operating Officer, Vivian Schiller chairs the Executive Committee. Show less
