“100 years of Incredible Women” spotlights women from the past 100 years who have overcome great odds to find their voice. These 7 YouTube creators have come together from around the world to celebrate their stories.
This project is part of a special YouTube initiative to spotlight and empower female creators in 2016. Our goal is to support the creation of female-driven content and inspire women to make more videos for YouTube – ultimately, to help create a world where everyones voice can be heard.
We’ve come a long way but we still have a long way to go. Who inspires you?

Ahead of International Women’s Day, YouTube is championing the diverse community of women on the platform through a global production program across the YouTube Spaces that empowers women both in front of and behind the camera
Over the last few months, creators have filmed on sets constructed specifically for this initiative at Spaces in Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, New York, Sao Paulo, and Berlin, producing over 50 videos that spotlight women’s perspectives. As part of the program, which also included events and workshops, six established YouTube creators, including Anna Akana (US), Alexys Fleming (US), Julia Veiga Faria (Brazil), Em Ford (UK), Nilam Farooq (Germany) and Kuma Miki (Japan) were appointed as Creative Directors with the goal of mentoring creators who also participated in the global video shoots.
This inaugural women-led YouTube Space Program features productions from Michelle Phan, GloZell, Ali Brustofski, Flavia Calina, Olhos de Nuvens, Ochikeron, mirellativegal and more across a wide array of topics and genres, ranging from women in the workforce, health, science, engineering to music, comedy, and scripted content.
This fall, YouTube Space LA and Robert Kirkman, Creator of THE WALKING DEAD and his company Skybound Entertainment, hosted an exclusive scriptwriting workshop for YouTube creators to write a Halloween short film based on the prompt “What happened here?”
Each creator then shot the script to their short film on this year's Halloween set at YouTube Space LA. Check out the full playlist of short films, if you dare!
