    Malaysia's military has traced what could have been the jetliner missing for almost five days to an area near Andaman and Nicobar islands, hundreds of miles from its last known position, the country's air force chief said on Wednesday. After a series of at times conflicting statements, the latest revelation underlined that authorities remain uncertain even where to look for the plane, and no closer to explaining what happened to Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 or the 239 people on board. The flight disappeared from civilian radar screens shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, less than an hour after taking off from Kuala Lumpur, as it flew northeast across the mouth of the Gulf of Thailand bound for Beijing. Malaysian air force chief Rodzali Daud told a news conference that an aircraft was plotted on military radar at 2:15 a.m., 200 miles (320 km) northwest of Penang Island off Malaysia's west coast.

    The RSS was not involved in the killing of Mahatma Gandhi, BJP patriarch L.K. Advani said in a blog, quoting Gandhi's grandson Rajmohan Gandhi Wednesday. Advani's blog 'Mahatma was perhaps not right' Wednesday also said Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's contributions have not been acknowledged. "This book by Rajmohan Gandhi has effectively nailed the Congress party's slanderous campaign against the RSS in respect of Mahatmaji's assassination," Advani wrote. The BJP leader said that Rajmohan Gandhi in his book on Patel quoted a letter dated Feb 27, 1948, written by Patel to Jawaharlal Nehru.

    Coastguards from the remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands joined the airborne search on Wednesday for a missing Malaysian airliner, a senior official told Reuters. A Dornier aircraft belonging to the coastguard set off at 2.30 p.m. local time to search the eastern side of the Andaman islands, on orders from New Delhi, said VSR Murthy, the inspector general of the coastguard service on the islands. The airliner, which had 239 people on board, vanished from air traffic control screens midway between Malaysia's east coast and Vietnam. Malaysia's military radar has detected what could have been the jetliner in the northern Malacca Strait, a stretch of water that flows into the Andaman Sea, Malaysia's air force chief said earlier on Wednesday.

The report filed before the Margao district and sessions court Wednesday by prison authorities also said a SIM card seized from Tejpal's prison cell at the Sada sub-jail, 35 km from here, was registered in the name of a woman from a Panaji suburb. It said Tejpal regularly called Sheela Lunkad, who is Tejpal's partner in a hospitality venture. Sheela Lunkad, Rajeev Lunkad, Tejpal and his wife Geetan Batra Tejpal are partners in a private limited company.

    Budget airline SpiceJet has signed a deal with Boeing Co to buy 42 737 MAX jets in a deal worth $4.4 billion at list prices, the company said on Wednesday, sending its shares up more than 7 percent during trade. The order, which Reuters first reported in January, could help the loss-making Indian carrier, India's fourth-biggest airline by market share, as it seeks new investors. Delivery of the new jets will begin in 2018, S.L. Narayanan, chief financial officer at SpiceJet's parent, Sun Group, told reporters at an air show in Hyderabad. Narayanan said some payments for the latest order would be adjusted against the 12 Boeing 737 NG planes from an ongoing order SpiceJet will be swapping for 737 MAX.
