As part of a commitment to community service, a Lieutenant Governor can be honorary patron to – or honorary president of – a number of local organizations that help enrich the lives of Nova Scotians.

Vice-regal patronage derives from the concept of the Crown as the source of the highest honours and awards granted in our society. As the Sovereign's representative in the province, the Lieutenant Governor helps to recognize the contributions of charitable and non-profit organizations in a variety of sectors to Nova Scotian communities.

To request the Lieutenant Governor's patronage for your organization please complete the Patronage Request Form.

Upon completion of a Lieutenant Governor's term, the formal patronage relationship between the Lieutenant Governor and each organization formally ends. Organizations wishing to renew their relationship with the Crown in Nova Scotia must re-apply using the above Form.
