Government has received the report from the Office of the Ombudsman regarding the child death review file #50312

The protection of children is one of the primary concerns of the Province of Nova Scotia. We thank the Office of the Ombudsman for their investigation and review of this tragic situation. We understand and share in their objective of improving child protection practices for children and families in Nova Scotia.

Certainly the death of any child is a tragedy and this government is committed to fully examining the recommendations contained in this report, and in working collaboratively across departments to reduce barriers to effective service delivery. We are committed to the safety, well-being and development of children and families in Nova Scotia.

The departments of Health and Wellness, Community Services, and Justice will form an interdepartmental committee to address these recommendations and will report on our progress within 30 days.
