Legislative committees are appointed by the Nova Scotia House of Assembly and are composed of Members of the Legislative Assembly. The committee system allows for detailed examination of matters in a manner which would not be possible in the larger House and also allows members of the public to observe the proceedings during public meetings.

THE LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEES OFFICE

The Legislative Committees Office, under the direction of the Speaker, is responsible for providing administrative support for the majority of the Standing Committees, Select Committees and commissions of the Legislature. The office also compiles the annual reports of these committees.
