Communications Nova Scotia is an award winning full-service communications agency. We provide a complete range of professional communications services to provincial government departments, agencies, boards and commissions.

Project Services

This team is the first point of contact with CNS for projects, advice, or planning. This team provides project management and coordinates projects by in-house staff and contracted professionals to ensure high quality service. Project Services manages the Communications Services Standing Offer on behalf of government.

Contact

Communications Support

The Communications Support team edits and issues media releases and advisories on behalf of government and manages the government’s social media presence. The team provides logistical and communications support for legislative briefings, news conferences, special events and during storms and emergencies.

Department Support

Communications Nova Scotia staff help government departments and agencies share their programs and initiatives with Nova Scotians.

Communications directors, advisors and officers work with Managing Directors to develop and implement communications strategies and programs, and provide media relations, issues management, news releases and speeches.

Marketing

Marketing plans, develops and implements marketing communications strategies and initiatives to create public awareness and understanding of the priorities of government. It supports departmental initiatives across government by providing marketing expertise, advice and involvement in the development and execution of marketing communications programs.

The Marketing Unit includes Marketing Strategy, Internet Strategy, and Media Planning and Buying.

Communications Services

Creative Services

The Creative Services team provides visual communication expertise to government departments. Services include graphic design, editorial services (writing, substantive editing, copy writing, plain language services, proofreading), exhibits and displays, signage, illustration, multimedia and video graphics - both in-house and through the private sector. This team also oversees the government’s Visual Identity Standards.

Image Services

The unit provides video and photography services for government departments and agencies for use in print, websites and webcasts, television, video, radio and audio, and other multimedia. The section maintains a photo studio, an in-house production facility with high definition production equipment, three edit suites, and an audio recording suite, and maintains an image bank, where photos can be accessed for information and commercial purposes.

Most video and audio projects are produced using a combination of in-house resources and private sector suppliers for a cost-effective model with very high production values.

Translation Services

The Translation Services team provides professional English-to-French translation services to government departments, agencies and other designated public institutions. From translation to proofreading and terminology services, Communications Nova Scotia's team of professional translators enables the delivery of information and communication in French. Translation services are called upon by government for a wide range of material, including: brochures, application forms, website content, signage, reports, advertisements, correspondence and news releases.
