Medical Imaging services, in the Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region, conducts radiology and imaging tests to assist doctors in diagnosing illnesses or injury, quickly and accurately.

The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region has continued to pursue the most advanced diagnostic equipment, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT) and Bone Densitometry, which greatly improves early detection of disease or injury. Professionally trained technologists are responsible for operating these advanced diagnostic machines and specialized doctors evaluate the test results.

The Imaging Department works in conjunction with a patient's doctor to determine the most appropriate test for each individual. Patients are referred for x-rays, ultrasound, mammography or for more detailed testing using computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and interventional services (angiograms).

Breast Assessment Services

The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region’s Breast Assessment Centre, located at the Pasqua Hospital, assesses patients’ breast health.

Computed Tomography (CT)

Once referred to as a """"CAT"""" scan this examination actually does not require the assistance of any 4-legged feline type creatures. It is however the most advanced x-ray and computer technology combined together to produce three-dimensional images of various parts of the body.

Interventional Services

Angiograms are a type of x-ray procedure used to assess blood vessels and blood flow throughout the body.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) provides remarkably detailed images of the body without the use of x-rays. This revolutionary diagnostic tool uses a large magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to scan the body and produce images.

Mammography

Mammography is a type of x-ray procedure performed specifically for early detection and diagnosis of breast cancer.

Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear Medicine is a discipline in medical radiation technology. It involves the use of radioactive substances and radiation technology to help diagnose, and, in some cases, treat medical problems.

Prostate Assessment Centre

The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region helps men and their families navigate the health care system and educate them about health issues that commonly affect men, such as prostate cancer.

Radiology (x-ray)

For years x-rays have been relied upon as a basic tool for the diagnosis of illness or injury. An x-ray machine sends a radiation beam through the body and demonstrates solid internal structures, like bone, organs and dense muscle tissue as an image for technologists and doctors to see.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to transmit images of internal organs and other fluid filled structures of the body.
