More than 50 Procedures Postponed or Moved From the Pasqua Hospital Thursday Due to Water Damage From a Burst Pipe
21-Sep-2017
More than 50 procedures at Pasqua Hospital have been postponed or moved to the Regina General Hospital Thursday due to a water pipe bursting on the Gastro Intestinal (G.I.) Unit late Wednesday evening.
The burst pipe caused damage to the unit as well as to areas in the floors beneath, including the Medical Surveillance Unit (MSU), Cardiac Function Clinic
and Radiology. The damage resulted in more than 50 patient procedures needing to be rescheduled as well as the transfer of eight patients from the
MSU to other units in the hospital.
Several departments are working together to clean and repair the affected areas. “We are happy to report that our teams' fast response to this situation
helped minimize the damage to the unit as well as the subsequent areas below,” said Dr. David McCutcheon, Vice President Physician and Integrated Health
Services. “The Radiology department was reopened in the morning, while the eight displaced patients are expected to be transferred back to the MSU
later this afternoon. The G.I. Unit expects to be operational by Friday morning, although work will continue in one room on the unit due to more extensive
damage.”
