HOW TO SEND MONEY WITH INTERAC e-TRANSFER^®

Send money to the email address or phone number of your choice

What you need to do:

1. Sign on to Online Banking or the Mobile Banking App
   From the menu, select “Interac e-Transfer.”
2. Select “Send Money” 
3. Choose or add a new contact*
   Enter the amount and account you’d like to transfer money from. You can also add an optional message that is viewable on the Interac e-Transfer Status page. Then select “Continue” to proceed.
   * If you added a new contact, select a security question with an answer that only you and your contact know. You can choose a question from the list or create your own.
   Enter your answer.
   Note: If the contact is registered for Autodeposit, you won’t be asked to enter a security question and answer.
4. Your contact receives and claims the money you sent
   If you send money with Interac e-Transfer between 8:00 pm and 12:00 am (ET), your contact will get an email dated the following day.
   To claim the money, your contact selects the link in their email, selects their bank from the list and enters the answer to the security question.
   
   NEW FEATURE 
   If the contact is registered for Autodeposit, the funds are automatically deposited into their bank account.
   Your contact has 30 days to claim the transfer. After that, we’ll send you an email notifying you that it’s expired. You can then reclaim the transfer amount.

3. Enter the email address that you would like to register.
This means that anytime anyone sends you money using Interac e-Transfer to this email address, it will automatically be deposited into the selected deposit account.

Note: Once an email or phone number is registered to an account for Autodeposit, it can't be registered again with another account at another bank.

4. Select the account you want the funds to be automatically deposited to.

5. Verify all details and select "Confirm".

6. When you receive the verification email from Interac, activate the Autodeposit settings by selecting "Complete registration". Note that the registration link in your verification email from Interac will expire in 24 hours.

You're now registered for Autodeposit.

Send money to people registered for Autodeposit:

1. Sign on to Online Banking or the Mobile Banking App

From the menu, select “Interac e-Transfer.”

2. Select a contact from the list or add a new contact

3. Enter the amount in the “Amount” field and select “Next”

4. If the contact has registered for Autodeposit:

• You will see a note on the security question screen
• You won’t be prompted to set up a security question
• You can’t reclaim the transfer once it is sent because the amount will be immediately taken out of your account

5. If the contact has not registered for Autodeposit, you will be prompted to set up a security question

6. Once you’ve finished setting up the security question, select “Next”

7. Verify the transfer details carefully and select “Yes” to proceed

Reclaim your money

Your transfer might not be processed for the following reasons:

• The contact declined the transfer
• The time period for the contact to claim the transfer has expired
• The email address you entered for your contact is invalid
• The contact was unable to answer the security question

In these cases, your money will automatically be transferred back to the account it was withdrawn from.
