“Don’t just think about your next promotion. Think about roles that challenge you — even scare you — where you can further develop and hone your skill sets. Each role in my past has taught me incredibly valuable lessons that I use to this day.”
NANCY BRAMM
“Don’t underestimate the power of hard work. Be a team player and have courage. Focus your career on these traits and many opportunities will come your way. Trust your instincts.”
ALICIA DUBOIS
“I fell in love with the idea that we’re working with Canadians to help them realize their dreams — important milestones like buying their first home, saving for their children’s educations or helping new entrepreneurs launch their business. I wanted to be part of something special for our clients.”
ANDREW GREENLAW
“Coming here, my biggest challenge was proving myself and meeting Canadian standards — from writing cover letters and participating in interviews to building my network. But what I really needed was access to an opportunity to demonstrate my skills and abilities.”
ASBED SGHMAN
“When you look at the history of progress or innovation, the vast majority of high-impact social and technological advancements have been about removing obstacles or barriers for wider groups. It’s all about lifting people up rather than keeping them down, increasing potential rather than limiting it.”
ROBERT CHAMBERLAND
Women in Finance Charter
In 2016, CIBC became the first Canadian bank to sign HM Treasury’s Women in Finance Charter, signaling our pledge for better gender balance across financial services firms in the United Kingdom.
Board Representation:
Made up of 41% women, CIBC’s mission of broader board representation has exceeded our goal of reaching at least 30% of each gender on our board by 2017.
Global Leadership Representation:
Our boarded executive team is currently 30% women, meeting the target we set in 2015.
Under our President and CEO’s leadership, as the Chair of the 30% Club Canada and Catalyst Canada’s Advisory Board, and as a member of Catalyst’s Global Board of Directors, CIBC actively supports Canadian business leaders to aspire towards gender balanced boards and executive teams.
