Geography
Carmacks is located in the Yukon Plateau–Central Ecoregion; an area of glaciated, rounded and rolling hills, plateaus and broad valleys and surrounded by higher mountain ranges. Numerous lakes and smaller streams fill the network of broad valleys that characterize this ecoregion.
Climate
Carmacks is located at the southern edge of the central Yukon region that tends to experience extremes in temperature.
Mean January temperatures vary from –30° Celsius in the lowest valleys to a more moderate –20° Celsius over higher terrains. Mean July temperatures range from 15° Celsius in the valleys to 10° Celsius.
