Population
The population of Carmacks is 503 (September 2012); from 2006 to 2011 the population of the village increased 18.4%.
The population of the Yukon itself is growing; a population growth of 11.6% between the 2006 and 2011 census years was the highest in Canada.
Labour Force
From forestry to mining, Yukoners have worked in natural resource industries for over 100 years, and in developing expertise for working in remote, cold-climate conditions. More recently, with new technologies and media-based innovations, along with territory-wide broadband connectivity, Yukoners have become skilled knowledge-based workers.
Employment in Carmacks is associated with government: federal, territorial, First Nation and municipal. The private sector provides employment in in the construction, mining, service industry, and tourism fields.
