Population and Labour Force

Population

Ross River’s population is currently 352 (2013), approximately 85% of which are of Kaska descent and members of the Ross River Dena Council.

The population of the Yukon itself is growing; a population growth of 11.6% between the 2006 and 2011 census years was the highest in Canada.

Labour Force

The Ross River working community is adaptable, creative, entrepreneurial and innovative.  Many work with Federal, Territorial, and First Nation governments, while others work in the service and tourism industry.

From forestry to mining, Yukoners have worked in natural resource industries for over 100 years, and in developing expertise for working in remote, cold-climate conditions.

More recently, with new technologies and media-based innovations, along with territory-wide broadband connectivity, Yukoners have become skilled knowledge-based workers.
