Youth Division
The Youth Division is one of the divisions of the Court of Québec. It hears:
- applications concerning the security or development of a child under 18 years of age;
- adoption cases;
- cases in which individuals between the ages of 12 and 18 are accused of offences under the Criminal Code and certain federal statutes;
- penal cases involving individuals between the ages of 14 and 18 who are accused of offences under Québec statutes and regulations or municipal by-laws;
- child custody cases, when the Court is already hearing an adoption or youth protection case;
- applications concerning the exercise of parental authority, when the Court is already hearing an adoption or youth protection case.
