After your application has been checked by the clerk

Once your application has been checked, you must file it formally at the courthouse. You will need to print out your form, attach original copies of the supporting documents, and make copies for your own records.

There are two ways to file an application at the courthouse:

  • in person;
  • by mail.

Paying the judicial fees

You will have to pay the applicable judicial fees. At the courthouse, you can pay by any method except a personal cheque. If you pay by mail, you will have to provide a certified cheque or a postal order made out to the Minister of Finance.

People receiving last-resort financial assistance are exempted from paying judicial fees. If you are in this situation you must present your claim booklet for the current month or include a photocopy of your claim booklet in your file.
