Our 2019-2023 Strategic Plan implemented two task forces to promote and champion our goals for the Halifax business community.
Accessing a Skilled Workforce
This task force aims to attract and retain talent in our region. They focus on:
- Immigration to achieve Ivany population targets
- Ensure youth retention through work integrated learning to ensure successful job placement
- Entrepreneurship training and development

Fostering Private Sector Growth
This task force works towards a frictionless business environment in Nova Scotia. They focus on:
- Optimize the size of government through:
- Reduced tax burden, Efficient spending, increased revenue
- Create a frictionless business environment through reduced regulatory burden
- Support the growth of Nova Scotia’s export sector, both goods and services
- Promote and support
the growth of Halifax as a major Canadian city

Chamber’s formal response to proposed Federal tax changes to small business
On behalf of the 1,600 members (83% small businesses) of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, Patrick Sullivan wrote to the Department of Finance Canada to share our concerns regarding the unintentional impacts of the Department of Finance Canada’s July 18, 2017 white paper and the proposed changes to private corporation tax policies.
