    With the right balance of browns, greens water and soil, your compost mixture will neither smell nor attract unwanted bugs. Sign our Zero Waste Pledge for more tips and tricks on how to take control of your household food waste:

    The Simple Setup
Rule of Thumb: Two parts Brown for one part Green

1) Find a warm spot indoors or outdoors
2) Your first layers will be two parts of Brown ingredients
3) Your second layer will be one part Green ingredients
4) Add some water to dampen, but do not soak the mxiture
5) Finish off with a thin layer of soil

    Here are some more reasons why YOU should compost: - It breaks down food and organic waste to improve soil health. - It stores carbon in the soil instead of releasing it in the air. - It reduces the chance of harmful methane emissions that would occur in landfills.

Green (Nitrogen): Fruit scraps; Veggie Scraps; Coffee grounds; weeds and plant clippings
Brown (carbon): dry leaves; shredded paper waste; eggshells; wood shavings
