Deductions From Wages

Only under certain circumstances may an employer make deductions from an employee’s wages. Deductions from wages are not allowed for a cash shortage, or lost or stolen property if a person other than the employee had control over or access to the cash or property. For example, an employer cannot deduct wages from an employee working at a gas station because someone leaves without paying the bill after pumping gas for their car.
