AccessMTO

Welcome to MTO's Accessibility for People with Disabilities Site!

On this page, you will find information about the Ministry of Transportation's commitment to help make Ontario more accessible to our customers with disabilities. These efforts are being guided by both the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 (ODA) and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA) and its regulations.

Through the ODA, accessibility planning has laid a strong foundation for the Ministry of Transportation to build on, and under the AODA, Ontario is developing standards that will remove barriers faced by people with disabilities. The first of these standards to be regulated is the Accessibility Standards for Customer Service, Ontario Regulation 429/07.

We are offering you a copy of the Ontario Public Service (OPS) Accessible Customer Service Policy for your reference as appropriate.

We welcome your feedback related to the accessibility of our services to customers with disabilities.

Accessible Vehicles - Regulation 629 (July 1, 2011)

Regulation 629, Vehicles for the Transportation of Physically Disabled Passengers has recently been amended to update the requirements for vehicles designed or modified to transport passengers with disabilities, not including those being used for personal purposes (e.g. family van).  The regulation has also been streamlined to remove outdated or redundant requirements.

These changes took effect on July 1, 2011.
