Types of notices

You’re required to file a notice to the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development before installing and using a range of equipment and following a reportable incident. This helps protect the health and safety of your workers.

To ensure clear and quick communication with anyone holding a prospector licence or mining claim, you’re required to notify the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines of a change of address.

Employers must notify the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (opens a new browser window) before installing portable crushing, screening or associated washing equipment. They must also file this notice when exploring, dewatering or resuming work at a mine where mining operations have been suspended for more than 3 months.

Employers must complete this form and keep it at the worksite (opens a new browser window) before using diesel-powered equipment in an underground mine for the first time. A Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development inspector may ask to see it during a workplace visit. (This notice replaces Form 1 in Regulation 854 for Mines and Mining Plants prior to January 1, 2012.)

Change of address

If you hold a prospector licence or mining claim, you must notify the Provincial Mining Recorder at the Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines (opens a new browser window) of changes to your contact information (for example, mailing address, telephone number). You’ll also have to give your name and client/prospector’s licence number.
