Optional Email Communication from the WSIB
As of last year, Return to Work Specialists may send emails to workers who are involved with return to work or work transition. Emails may only be sent to
·         Confirm a return to work meeting
·         Forward the Return to Work Plan
·         Provide workers with general information
These emails are one-way communication so that recipients cannot reply to the message. If the worker has a representative, the message will be faxed or mailed to the representative, but will not be emailed.

Minimum Wage Increase and LOE Benefits

Many injured workers who are receiving partial loss of earnings benefits will be affected by the increase in minimum wage to $14/hour effective January 1, 2018. 

 
 
Mental Stress Update: July 1, 2018 Deadline for New Claims
Effective January 1, 2018, changes to the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act (WSIA) mean that workers may claim benefits for chronic or traumatic stress that is not caused by decisions or actions of the employer relating to the employment (e.g. termination).
