Greenbelt maps

Learn about the boundaries of the Greenbelt and how the natural systems of the Protected Countryside, Urban River Valleys, Oak Ridges Moraine and Niagara Escarpment are interconnected.

Overview

The Greenbelt was established in 2005. It includes over 800,000 hectares of land and extends 325 km from the eastern end of the Oak Ridges Moraine, near Rice Lake, in the east, to the Niagara River in the west.

The Greenbelt Act, 2005 provides the authority for the designation of the Greenbelt Area. The Greenbelt Area, precisely defined in Ontario Regulation 59/05 and shown on a series of maps below, is governed by the Greenbelt Plan.

Land use designation maps

The Greenbelt Plan applies to the lands outlined in Ontario Regulation 59/05 and shown on Schedule 1, which also shows the land use designations including the Protected Countryside, Urban River Valley Areas and Glenorchy Lands as defined by the Greenbelt Plan.
