FAQs about Teacher's Forum

When is the application deadline?

Online applications will be accepted from: TBA.

Who is eligible?

  • Teachers from across Ontario who have not previously participated in the Teacher's Forum at Ontario's legislature.
  • Teachers who are members of the Ontario College of Teachers.
  • Teachers currently teaching or expect to be teaching grades 4 to 12 in a subject area related to citizenship, civics, social studies or history.

I’m a new teacher - can I participate?

Yes, both experienced and new teachers are encouraged to apply.

I teach in a province other than Ontario can I apply?

The Legislative Assembly of Ontario Teacher's Forum is only available to those currently teaching in Ontario.

Is any supporting documentation required?

A letter of recommendation, written by a Principal, Department Head, or School Administrator, is required to support your application. Letters must be uploaded along with your online application in either Word or PDF format. A letter of recommendation file upload section is a component of the online application form.

Do I have to pay a registration fee?

Yes, there is a registration fee of $100.

Will accommodation be provided?

Yes, accommodation during the program will be provided for participants who live outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and are unable to commute to the program.

Will my travel costs be covered?

If you live more than 50 km from the Legislative Building, we will reimburse your transportation costs. Please see Program Highlights for more details.

Are meals covered?

Most meals will be covered during the Teacher's Forum program including a welcome reception dinner.

Will the cost of a supply teacher be covered by the Teacher's Forum?

No, the cost of a supply teacher is not covered by the Teacher's Forum.

Will I be reimbursed for parking?

If you are commuting to the Teacher's Forum, free parking may be arranged upon request at the Legislative Building.

Can I defer my acceptance to the program to next year?

No, acceptances cannot be deferred.

Is attendance mandatory at all sessions during the Teacher's Forum?

Yes, attendance at all sessions during the program is mandatory and required to receive any reimbursements.
