Grants for protecting species at risk
How to get money to help protect and recover plants and animals that are in danger of disappearing in Ontario. This includes the Species at Risk Stewardship Program.
Species at Risk Stewardship Program
The Species at Risk Stewardship Program was created under the Endangered Species Act to encourage people to get involved in protecting and recovering species at risk through stewardship activities. Conserving the province’s rich biodiversity now, and for future generations is a key part of the government's Made-in-Ontario Environment Plan.
Who can apply
The fund is open to individuals and groups across Ontario, including:
- academic institutions
- businesses
- conservation authorities
- consulting companies
- Indigenous communities/organizations
- individuals
- industry organizations
- land owners and farmers
- municipal and local governments
- non-government organizations
