What is Learn to Fish?

The Learn to Fish program introduces kids, teens and adults to fishing.

The program will teach you how to:

• rig, bait and cast a fishing rod
• identify and catch local fish species
• get a fishing licence and follow fishing regulations
• discover more about fishing in Ontario
• fish safely and sustainably

Learn to Fish program schedule

To ensure a safe and secure environment for our Learn to Fish staff, partners and participants, we are cancelling all in-person Learn to Fish programs for the 2021 season. This includes hands-on teaching programs, outreach events and mobile unit pop-up events.

This year, we’re excited to continue with our #LearntoFishOnline campaign. This online experience:

• provides helpful tips, videos and links to aspiring anglers
• ensures more families and youth can access the program to learn about fishing, while staying safe

We look forward to bringing back the in-person Learn to Fish program in the future as health trends continue to improve in Ontario. We want to thank you for your support and interest in the program and hope to see you in the future.

Learn to Fish Online

For the 2021 season, the Learn to Fish program is online. It’s a great way to spend quality time together and get kids hooked on fishing.

Learn to Fish Online helps you navigate this new world of fishing. Follow along as we review all the basics of how to fish with videos, quizzes and other resources like our Learn to Fish Guide.

At the end of this program, you will have the knowledge and confidence to fish on your own.
