Standardized proof of vaccination (coming soon)
The secure, standardized proof of vaccination announced on August 11, 2021 is being developed in partnership with provinces and territories for travel outside of Canada.
- This document will be easily recognized and trusted.
- It will provide border officials in other countries with your COVID-19 vaccination history.
- This allows them to assess whether you meet their public health requirements and confirm any public health measures you may need to follow.
- More details on how and when you can get one will be available in the coming months.
If you need a record of vaccination now
Vaccination records or receipts are issued by your province or territory. Current COVID-19 vaccination documents aren’t standardized for international travel.
- Some provinces and territories have created a secure proof of vaccination document for non-essential services within their province or Canada.
- This proof may be used for activities like going to restaurants and sporting events.
- You may be able to use these secure documents if you need to travel outside the country.
- Each foreign country determines what it will accept at its border. Check your destination country’s rules and make sure your documents, including proof of vaccination, meet their requirements.

Before you travel outside Canada
Our advice remains that now isn’t the time to travel.
If you need to travel for an essential reason, make sure you check:
- Government of Canada travel advice and advisories
- the destination country’s entry and public health requirements, including required documents
- requirements in transit countries, as transit rules are in place for many destinations
- airline websites for their requirements if applicable

Returning to Canada
Travellers entering Canada, regardless of citizenship, must follow testing and quarantine requirements to keep everyone safe.

Proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN
ArriveCAN is free and secure and is the official Government of Canada platform to provide required information to enter Canada.
You may need to enter your proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN.
