Introduction
Contract History is information about contracts awarded by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) since January 2009, on behalf of federal departments and agencies. Information about contracts can be retrieved by entering a keyword or by specifying various search criteria including: good or service, client department or agency, supplier, and contract number. Data Fields and Definitions
The following is a definition list of the data fields used in Contract History. The Procurement Data Dictionary is also available as an XML open data format for download at Contract History on the Government of Canada's website data.gc.ca.

- Amendment Number
- The number of amendments against a contract.
- Competitive Tender
- Indicates whether a contract was awarded by a competitive (Yes) or non-competitive (No) solicitation process.
- Contract Award Date
- Date on which a contract came into effect.
- Contract Expiry Date
- Date on which a contract legally expired.
- Contract Number
- A unique identifier assigned to a contract.
- Contracting Entity Name
- The name of the Government of Canada entity that is the contracting entity (the government organization that is procuring goods/services through a given contract).
- Date file published
- The date and time when the file was published.
- End User
- The end user identifies the entity (e.g. department or agency) on whose behalf the contract has been put in place.
- Fiscal year
- Means the period beginning on April 1 in one year and ending on March 31 in the next year.
- GSIN Code
- Code used by the federal government to identify generic product descriptions for its procurement activities.
- GSIN description
- The description of the good or service that corresponds to the Goods and Services Identification Number (GSIN).
- Limited Tender Reason
- Specifies a reason for a given contract not being awarded through competitive solicitation.
- Number of Records
- The total number of records, including the original contract and any of the subsequent amendments.
- Percentage of Goods Manufactured, by Country of Origin
- The percentage of the total of the manufactured goods, by country of origin. This pertains to Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) awarded contracts for apparel (excluding shoes, boots and helmets).
- Procurement Entity Name
- The name of the Government of Canada organization that was primarily responsible for conducting a given procurement. The procurement entity may not be the organization that is purchasing items through a given contract.
- Solicitation Method
- Specifies the solicitation method used as a precursor to contract award.
- Supplier Legal Name
- Legal registered name of a business entity that is also a supplier to the Government of Canada.
- Supplier Operating Name
- Name(s) a business entity normally uses when conducting business as a supplier to the Government of Canada.
- Supplier Standardized Name
- A supplier name used to simplify search results by grouping together closely related suppliers that conduct business using different operating or legal names. The resulting search records will contain the suppliers’ legal and operating names.
- Trade Agreement
- Specifies the trade agreement applicable to the contract.
- Total Contract Value
- The cumulative total value of a contract, from contract award date to present (original plus all amendments), and includes values that are pre-January 2009 (i.e. includes contract information that preceded the first public release of Contract History).
- Value
- The rounded dollar value of the contract in Canadian funds, including taxes.
