Criminal records

Note

Please be advised that we are currently experiencing service delays due to a significant volume increase of Landed Immigrant Status applications (aka Permanent Resident).

If you have made a request for a Landed Immigrant Status Certified Criminal Record Check and you have yet to receive your RCMP certified criminal record check product, please contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for more information concerning your submission deadline.

Attention: Permanent Residence (PR) applicants that require a RCMP fingerprint-based criminal record check will receive instructions from IRCC. Do not apply for an RCMP criminal record check unless instructed by IRCC.

Due to measures taken to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we are currently experiencing service delays. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please check back regularly for updates.

The RCMP's Canadian Criminal Real Time Identification Services (CCRTIS) maintains the national database of criminal records in Canada. Local police and other authorities across Canada contact CCRTIS to check the fingerprint records of people who have been charged or convicted of a crime. The database is also used for civil (non-criminal) purposes, specifically to confirm a person's identity in criminal record checks. For general information about CCRTIS, please contact us.
