ACT Alberta coordinates services for victims of human trafficking, provides training to front-line service providers, engages and educates the public, researches and collects data on human trafficking, manages a Victims Assistance Fund, helps develop policy provincially and nationally, and creates community-based responses to human trafficking.

ADVAS is a non-profit volunteer based organization that provides 24 hour crisis response and support through the Airdrie and Beiseker RCMP for people who have been effected by crime and/or tragedy. ADVAS respects the victims we serve by offering a compassionate response to the trauma experienced: providing emotional support, practical assistance, information on victim’s rights and the referrals necessary to help reduce the negative impact of victimization. Court support and accompaniment for victims of crime is also available.

The Victims of Crime Financial Benefits Program acknowledges eligible victims of violent crime in Alberta with a monetary benefit. The program offers four different benefits: an injury benefit for physical and psychological injuries received as a direct result of the crime; a death benefit, which reimburses funeral expenses; a psychological injury benefit for victims who witness the death of a loved one as a result of a violent crime; and a monthly supplemental benefit for victims where a crime resulted in a brain injury rendering them totally dependent on others for their daily care or for those who became quadriplegic as a result of a crime. The program does not pay for a victim’s costs or losses related to a crime (i.e. personal property loss, damages, lost wages or medical costs) except for funeral expenses. The program is administered under the Victims of Crime Act and Regulation. Benefit amounts are set in the Victims of Crime Regulation.

Beaver County Victim Services staff and Advocates work under the guidance and direction of the RCMP Detachments of Tofield and Viking. We provide support, information and referral services to victims of crime and tragedy. Our services are free and confidential. Our staff and Volunteer Advocates provide immediate emotional and physical support during a crisis event in a respectful, empathetic, culturally sensitive and non-discriminatory manner. We are guided by a clear code of conduct and bound by a professional code of ethics. We may talk to you on the telephone, visit you in your home or hospital, accompany you to court or meet you at the scene of an accident, trauma or crime. Our goal is to limit the impact of crime or tragedy through information, referral, support, assistance, community liaison and education. Boyle Street Community Services is a non-profit Edmonton agency which assists individuals and families challenged by homelessness and poverty. First established in 1971 as a small storefront operation, the agency has grown to meet the needs of its client community, and now each year more than 12,000 people – more than 70 per cent of whom are of Aboriginal descent – access the wide range of supports and services which are available. Many of our daily clients are either sleeping rough or in shelters. They are all, without exception, extremely poor, and many of them are marginalized because of their ethnicity and their poverty. At our centre in the inner city we do all we can to support them. We provide cultural, outreach, mental health, housing, family and youth and employment services as well as a drop-in where the community can enjoy great food, warmth and companionship.

Calgary Legal Guidance addresses legal problems directly and systemically linked to domestic violence. Clients are assisted through the Clinical Program and Domestic Violence Legal Intervention Services, both individually and jointly, to provide information and legal advice to resolve issues such as protection orders, custody and access, child and spousal support, maintenance, separation and divorce, matrimonial propery, financial assistance, small claims, employment, discrimination and safety from violence. Our DVLI services include Court Preparation (CP), Restraining Order (RO), and Emergency Protection Order (EPO) Services. The program assists and empowers victims of family violence through services and supports provided by a lawyer/social worker team. Ourt team provides independent legal information about the criminal court process, court orientation for clients subpoenaed by crown to testify, court accompaniment, emotional supports, as well as information about and referrals to community supports and resources.

VAST provides police and court information, emotional support and community referrals to victims of crime and tragedy.

A team of well trained Advocates certified by the Alberta Solicitor General are available 24/7 to be dispatched by the Camrose Police Service or the Camrose RCMP. Services are provided by telephone, on-scene,home visits, hospital visits or self referrals. Services provided at the time of the crisis may include assistance with locating Shelters and Safe Places, bereavement support, information about Protection Orders including Emergency Protection Orders, Queens Bench Protection Orders, Restraining Orders and Peace Bonds, as well as safety planning and referrals to other pertinent agencies. During the criminal investigation we offer information about Victims of Crime Protocol,Victim Impact Statements, Financial benefits and Restitution requests. During the criminal justice proceedings, Victim Services will provide courtroom accompaniment upon request. After case disposition information about the appeals process, information about how to enforce restitution and compensation orders, information about parole and probation is provided where applicable upon request. Preventative services include crime prevention education and information.

CCMF Alberta provides support services for men and their children who are struggling due to intimate relationship breakdown and turmoil, and/or who are seeking healing, personal development, and wholeness. CCMF Alberta is a place where men are treated with compassion and without prejudice or shaming. Our people meet men where they’re at so they feel heard, validated, and can have conversations that matter to them. We encourage men’s agency and offer them tools with which to build better relationships, better lives, and better futures. We offer somewhere to belong. We believe improving men’s mental health makes them better dads, better partners, safer workers, and more engaged contributing members of their communities. CCMF Alberta clients are men who are struggling due to intimate relationship breakdown and turmoil. All programs are developed in response to client needs and in consultation with a Registered Psychologist. We provide individual and group peer support, legal assistance and resources, domestic abuse recovery program, 1-on-1 professional counselling, and other such services. These programs help equip men to manage stressful situations, rebuild their lives after relationships fail, stay connected with children, and minimize the chance of escalation to acute mental health crisis. We believe improved mental health for these men leads to reduced suicide, optimal parenting outcomes, and reduced family violence. Cold Lake Victim Services is a not for profit organization, which operates at the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment. Cold Lake Victim Services helps Adults and Youth of all ages through difficult times. Under the guidance and direction of the Cold Lake RCMP, we provide support, information, and referral services to crime/tragedy victims and their families. Our services are available on a 24 hour basis, and are free and confidential. In addition, we provide crime prevention presentations to the community.

Coronation/Consort Victim Services Unit covers the towns of Consort, Castor and Coronation as well as all villages and Hamlets in the County of Paintearth and Special Areas #4

Community Crisis Centre which includes: a crisis line,women's shelter,outreach programs, food bank, clothing depot, resource library, public education and informal counselling.

CSC Victim Services provide information to victims who were harmed by an offender serving a sentence of two years or more. Upon request, victims will be provided with information about the offender and the correctional process. Victims can also provide CSC with information about an offender as well as any safety concerns they have.

We are a women’s emergency shelter offering shelter to women and their dependants who are leaving situations of domestic abuse. We offer residential services, support, referrals and follow-up to women in order that they may better recognize their options and utilize opportunities to build a better future for themselves and their families. We also offer a 2nd Stage Housing Program for women with or without dependant children who are wanting to make permanent changes to their lives. The length of stay at the 2nd Stage Housing Program is up to 12 months. This program offers rental accommodation, counselling services, basic life skills assistance, access to educational programs, child support program, work experience and follow-up services.

Hinton Victim Services is a volunteer organization that works in partnership with the RCMP and other community services. We provide support to victims of crime or tragedy, supply information and referral services to help you and your family. We also offer court updates and support to victims of crime.

Hope Haven provides a short-term, safe, and supportive residential environment for abused women and their children. When space permits, women in crisis or other women needing emergency accommodations may be admitted. Basic emergency program support for the women and children include crisis intervention and support, information, referrals, advocacy, and child care. Basic emergency services include food, shelter, emergency transportation, emergency clothing, personal incidentals, non-prescription drugs, and minor medical needs. Hope Haven also provides outreach and public education, family violence programming, a Second Stage shelter, and Transitional Housing units.

Bissell Centre, along with Boyle Street Community Services, developed Inner City Victim Services to provide street level access to programs and services to victims of crime. This program offers a safe gateway for marginalized people to acquire information and receive support to ultimarely access and successfully navigate the Criminal Justice System.

The Jasper VSU exists to ensure that victimized persons receive support, information, referral and court information subsequent to their victimization, in order to limit the effect of their crisis, and to assist in returning their lives to a desired degree of stability. Jasper VSU is a volunteer-run, community driven, non-profit Society working closely with the RCMP to meet the needs of victims of crime and trauma within the Jasper Detachment area. VSU Volunteer Advocates receive intensive training and ongoing crisis intervention training to provide immediate support, practical information and needed referrals to victims of crime or trauma. They also provide court preparation and support to victim witnesses and oversee the Solicitor General mandated programs, including Victim Impact Statements, Financial Benefits and Restitution.

Created in Edmonton, Alberta, on September 22, 1999, Alliance Jeunesse-Famille de l’Alberta Society (AJFAS) is a non-profit organization that focuses on education and crime prevention through social development programs, placing particular importance on children, youth and their families in general. AJFAS's objectives are as follows: (a) to fight violence and prevent the risk of crime and incivility among youth; (b) to encourage the spirit of democracy, tolerance, self esteem and respect among young people; (c) to facilitate integration and socio-professional integration of Francophone youth and women of immigrant origin; (d) to promote intercultural exchanges and fight against racism and all forms of discrimination; and (e) to raise parents' awareness of their responsibilities in order to strengthen family ties.

Lesser Slave Lake Indian Regional Council (LSLIRC) / Lakeshore Regional Police Service Victim Service Unit provides assistance to the people of Driftpile First Nation, Kapawe’no First Nation, Sucker Creek First nation, Swan River First Nation and Sawridge Band affected by crime, tragedy and/or misfortune. LSLIRC Victim Services works with the communities, community agencies and Lakeshore Regional Police Service, RCMP High Prairie, Lakeshore and Faust Detachments to provide immediate crisis and trauma intervention, support to victims and the family and community. We offer long term follow up services to the people and communities we assist. Our primary service focus is to offer support, information and referral service to those in need.

Lethbridge Corridor Victim Services (LCVS) is a non-profit organization administered by a Board of Directors and Coordinator. LVCS serves the communities of Lethbridge, Milk River, and Picture Butte & Raymond receiving referrals from the local RCMP detachments. This service provides emotional support, community referrals, and court orientation to victims of crime and misfortune.

Victim/Witness Services is a police-based victim assistnace program attached to the Lethbridge Regional Police Service. the program provides practical and emotional support, referrals and court assistance to victim/witnesses of crime and/or tragedy in the City of Lethbridge and the Town of Coaldale.

MRJC is a community based organization that promotes the principles and practices of mediation and restorative justice and offers innovative training programs. Our restorative justice program aims to repair and heal harm through: Victim Offender Restorative Dialogue which provides the victim of a crime and their offender an opportunity to meet face-to-face, in a safe environment, to explore the aftermath of the crime and understand the impact it has had on all parties. Building Safer Ground is a process that allows constructive dialogue to happen. It’s designed for couples or families at risk for harm or violence, and is available to anyone in an intimate relationship. Our mediation program supports neighbours and communities experiencing conflict through: A safe place where neighbours can talk with each other in a way that helps them understand each other better and explore options for managing or resolving conflict. Working with non-profit groups and organizations to manage difficult conversations and address conflict in ways that are meaningful and productive. Assistance to families to resolve issues concerning the care of elderly parents. Training programs include: Communicating Through Conflict which is a workshop designed to help individuals approach difficult situations in everyday life. Restorative Justice Certificate program: Includes a 4 day course that provides an overview of restorative justice, and a 2-day case development course which provides a general overview of the Facilitator’s role and the skills they require.

Our unit provides 24/7 crisis intervention (by RCMP call out), emotional and practical support as well as information and referrals for victims of crime and trauma. Our staff and advocates ensure victims are kept up to date on the status of their police file and can answer questions victims may have about the criminal justice process. Court preparations and accompaniments are also provided through our office.

MCSC is the only non-profit organization in North America that employs an in-house team of highly trained former police officers to actively search for missing children. Since 1986, the Missing Children Society of Canada has been reuniting missing children with their searching families through professional investigations, public awareness and family support programs. MCSC's team of investigators works closely with law enforcement while conducting frontline, hands-on investigative and search activities. MCSC investigates disappearances of children, both national and international parental abductions, and runaways.

Women’s emergency shelter with priority for service being women their children leaving an abusive relationship and needing safe accommodations

The shelter provides safe short-term accommodation for women with or without children fleeing family violence. There is a 24-hour community crisis line and lay counselling providing information and support to individuals (priority is given to family violence issues). Outreach provides on-going support and follow-up. There is a child support program to address the specific needs of children who have witnessed family violence, and there is a resource library and preventative initiatives including education, awareness, and information.

Red Deer City Victim Services Unit (RDCVSU) assists victims of crime and/or tragedy by providing support, information and referrals on scene, in the office and during the criminal justice process. Volunteers and staff are available Monday to Friday from 08:00-16:00 to assist clients in our office located at the down town Red Deer RCMP Detachment. In partnership with the Smoky Lake RCMP Detachment, our Unit provides crisis response, support, assistance, follow-up, emergency protection orders, court orientation and accompaniment, information and referrals to victims of crime, tragedy and misfortune. Our Unit operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services are provided by telephone, referrals, on-scene, through home and office visits and walk-ins. All programs are administered by the Program Coordinator and staffed by well-trained community volunteers who are available to provide support during the first few critical hours after an incident. This is particularly relevant for those individuals who do not have a family or friend support base to rely on. The program is police-based in order to provide consistency and confidentiality to victims. Following individuals through the criminal justice system from the time of the incident right up to the court process provides victims with continuity, support and trust.

In partnership with the Redwater RCMP Detachment, our Unit provides crisis response, support, assistance, follow-up, emergency protection orders, court orientation and accompaniment, information and referrals to victims of crime, tragedy and misfortune. Our Unit operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services are provided by telephone, referrals, on-scene, through home and office visits and walk-ins. All programs are administered by the Program Coordinator and staffed by well-trained community volunteers who are available to provide support during the first few critical hours after an incident. This is particularly relevant for those individuals who do not have a family or friend support base to rely on. Responding to Family Violence in the Chinese Community Program is part of the integrated services delivery model at the Today Family Violence Help Centre. The Chinese program provides the following services to clients in English, Cantonese and Mandarin: education on family violence (and its impact on the children), risk assessment, safety planning, practical and ongoing supports and assistance with addressing basic needs and barriers (such as language, housing, addictions, health, mental health, financial) and linking clients to appropriate community resources.

We are a Victim Services Unit operated by trained volunteers in providing comfort and reassurance, resource material and information, referral services and connections to victims of crime, and trauma. We also liaise with other community agencies and service groups to provide as much support as possible to those affected by unfortunate circumstances or events. Our advocates are well versed in the programs and services offered to victims through the Department of Justice Canada and the Solicitor General's office. We offer guidance for filling out Victim Impact Statements, can assist in completing Financial Benefits Program forms and helping with a Request for Restitution. Our advocates are also available to provide court support and accompaniment when necessary or requested.

Emergency women's shelter for women and children.

SAFFRON’s mandate is to provide counselling services to persons who have suffered from sexual assault, abuse and sexual violence, as well as those person who have been affected by sexual assault (e.g. support persons, family members, etc., of someone who has experienced sexual assault) and also to provide proactive education regarding sexual assault, abuse and sexual violence to all individuals and to change attitudes, beliefs and myths surrounding sexual assault.

The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton (SACE) exists to support people impacted by sexual violence and engage communities to promote respect and uphold a culture of consent.

We are a volunteer, non-profit society working in conjunction with the RCMP and the community to assist victims of crime or trauma. We offer support: a listening ear, court preparation and accompaniment, home visits, hospital visits and bereavement. Information on: Victim Impact Statements, financial benefits, restitution, info about the Justice system, available community resources. Referrals to local community agencies, funeral services, counselling agencies and emergency social services. Our Victim Services Unit is staffed by trained volunteers who provide a link between the victim and the justice system and help the victim obtain the services and information they need. Our victim services staff will listen, offer emotional support and assist the victim in resolving problems arising or resulting from a crime. If a victim’ case goes to curt, Victim Services staff will work with the Crown Prosecutor’s office and the police to answer your questions, help you prepare for court, accompany you to court if you wish and ensure that you are informed about court dates and the results of the proceedings. We are on call 365 days a year and someone will always be there to answer your questions or just sit and listen to your story.

Police based organization made up in part of trained volunteers who work in conjunction with RCMP Officers. These volunteers are called victim advocates who are accredited and skilled in dealing with matters of victimization. Agency Description: Police based organization made up in part of trained volunteers who work in conjunction with RCMP Officers. These volunteers are called victim advocates who are accredited and skilled in dealing with matters of victimization. A self-help group designed to offer emotional support and information about surviving the loss of a loved one to murder. Monthly meetings provide a safe place where those suffering loss may express their feelings without being judged or misunderstood by others who have not experiences such a loss.

The shelter provides safe short-term accommodation for women with or without children fleeing family violence. There is a 24-hour community crisis line and lay counselling providing information and support to individuals (priority is given to family violence issues). Outreach provides on-going support and follow-up. There is a child support program to address the specific needs of children who have witnessed family violence, and there is a resource library and preventative initiatives including education, awareness, and information.

The Zebra Child Protection Centre is a collaborative approach to child abuse investigation. This multi-disciplinary team is made up of law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, mental health, medical professionals and community volunteers, who all work together to lend strength to a child and their non-offending caregiver through the investigation, prosecution and healing process.

Community Justice Initiatives (CJI) is a non-profit society based in Langley, British Columbia, Canada. The agency has over 25 years of experience providing Restorative Justice-based programs and services in such settings as the criminal justice system, workplaces, communities, institutions, faith groups, schools and businesses, and for private individuals. Based on a foundation of Restorative Justice values, our Victim Offender Mediation Program (VOMP) focuses, at a post-incarceration stage, on remaining accountability, healing and closure issues for those involved in or affected by traumatic criminal offences. While the program can and does involve face-to-face mediation in many cases, the ‘mediator’ is not an intervener but rather a supportive facilitator of therapeutic dialogue. The assessment and preparation processes are therapeutic in nature, and informed by current theory and clinical practice regarding offender treatment and victim trauma recovery.

The Creston & District Community Resource Centre is a non-profit society and a registered charitable organisation established in 1996. All of our counselling and community services are provided by fully qualified professionals and support persons. CSC Victim Services provide information to victims who were harmed by an offender serving a sentence of two years or more. Children Who Witness Abuse, Kids Count Too! is a community based support program for children who have been exposed to or witnessed negative family conflict, or experienced family divorce or separation. By providing professional timely assistance, we strive to minimize the effects of the trauma to the client and prevent re-victimization through education. Crisis intervention services are available to the Detachment 24/7 by trained crisis workers.

The Sooke Transition House Society (STHS) provides emergency shelter for women and their children who are in crisis resulting from family violence. The South Okanagan Victim Assistance Society serves men, women and children who have experienced abuse. The Community-Based Victim Assistance program provides information, support through the court process, referrals, and emotional support to men, women and children who have experienced relationship violence, child abuse, sexual assault or harassment/stalking. The Counselling Programs provide individual counselling to men and women who have experienced childhood or relationship abuse or sexual assault.

The Cridge Transition Home for Women is a safe place for women with or without children who are escaping violent or abusive relationships. The Cridge Transition House provides safe emergency shelter for up to 30 days, supportive counselling and information, connections to community supports, and outreach services to women and children who have been impacted by community violence.

The Tri-City Women’s Resource Society serves the communities of Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra. The Victim Assistance Program offers free and confidential services to women, children and men who have been victims of a power-based crime.

Vancouver and Lower Mainland Multicultural Family Support Services Society is a non-profit agency that started in 1991. Our goal, and the goal of our bicultural/bilingual workers is to empower immigrant, refugee and visible minority women and their families experiencing family violence throughout the Lower Mainland (Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, White Rock, Richmond, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Delta, Ladner, New Westminister, North Vancouver and West Vancouver) by helping them develop coping skills; supporting them through the various stages of rebuilding their lives in a culturally sensitive environment; advocacy of justice and other issues; individual and group counselling; bi-cultural parenting groups, anti-violence workshops in schools, court preparation and accompaniment; liaison with lawyers/crown counsel and referrals. The mission of the Vancouver Police Department's Victim Services Unit is to provide crime victims, witnesses, and their family members with professional, supportive, and timely assistance to lessen the impact of crime and trauma.

Provides free, confidential support services for female adults and youth who have experienced any form of male violence. Operates a 24-hour rape crisis line, a transition house for battered women and their children, and a women's organizing centre. Services include 24-hour crisis intervention, safe transitional housing, emotional support, peer counselling, support groups, advocacy, information and referral, legal clinic, and medical and legal accompaniment. Also operates a public education program and speakers bureau. Provides free training for volunteers with the transition house and rape crisis line. Victim Support Services is for Aboriginal people and their families who have been victims of physical or sexual assault. We provide individual and circle based support and advocacy, assistance with paperwork, court orientation and accompaniment and information for Aboriginal people who want to learn about addressing victimization.

Provides free, confidential, multilingual phone information and referral about community resources for victims of crime, as well as immediate crisis support to victims of family and sexual violence, including victims of human trafficking exploited for labour or sexual services. The Mary Manning Centre is a community-based, non-profit society whose mission is to prevent child sexual abuse and to respond to the needs of children and youth who experience sexual abuse and who are at risk.

Age & Opportunity Inc. is a not-for-profit social service agency that offers life-enhancing programs and services to older adults (55+) living in the province of Manitoba. Age & Opportunity’s programs and services support and enhance the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual lives of older persons and actively promote participation in all aspects of community life. Through a partnership with the Winnipeg Police Service, older adult victims of crime (60+) are referred to the Older Victim Services (OVS) program and are offered emotional support, information and practical assistance in understanding and navigating the criminal justice system. Support is provided to older adults who have been the victim of a police-reported incident which could include theft, break and enter, robbery, assault, fraud, uttering threats, sudden death, attempted murder and various other types of Elder Abuse. This service provides counselling related to the incident, personal and home safety tips, crime prevention awareness, hands-on assistance with Compensation for Victims of Crime forms, Victim Impact Statements, court-based information and tours as well as court accompaniment, community referrals and outreach services. Age & Opportunity also offers Protection Order Designate services, Safe Suite accommodations, SafetyAid Crime Prevention for Older Manitobans as well as many other innovative programs and services that empower older adults to lead healthy and vibrant lives.

Second Stage residential program for women and children who have left an abusive relationship. Program provides fully furnished 2 bedroom apartments, counselling, support groups, healthy coping program, learning program, follow-up and community support. Counselling available to both women and children. Residency is from 9 – 12 months. Alpha House is located in a safe secure location in Winnipeg.

We provide a safe haven to women fleeing domestic violence, crisis-line, counselling services (individual and group) to residential and non-residential clients, education to groups and schools on aspects of violence/bullying/domestic violence. Bravestone Centre Inc. is a nationally accredited, non-profit charitable organization in Winnipeg, Manitoba that provides women and their children affected by domestic violence with the skills to lead a life free of violence through full-time counselling and support programs while living in the safety of our program. During their yearlong program, women and children each attend regularly scheduled individual and group therapy and a variety of support programs. Families also attend family counselling sessions to further aid healing from trauma. Families live on-site in fully furnished Bravestone Centre suites. The program premises are fully secured, confidential and camera monitored. Families continue their counselling through the Follow-up Program when they graduate from the residential component of the program and integrate back into the community.

Manitoba First Nations Family Violence Prevention

Community Legal Education Association (CLEA) is a registered charity that helps Manitobans learn about the law and our legal system. We have been providing our many services and programs, most of them free of charge,since 1984. Our programs help promote access to justice by fostering an understanding of our justice system. Some of our specific programs include: -The Law Phone-In & Lawyer Referral Program - a free telephone legal information and lawyer referral service -Publications written in plain language on a variety of legal topics including Women in Abusive Relationships, and Court Orders for Your Protection -Free presentations about the law for community groups and schools -Training courses about the law for community service providers -An annual law conference. Last year, Law Phone-In fielded over 6,000 calls, we distributed over 7,500 publications, 1,000 people attended our law presentations, Community Legal Intermediary courses, and law conference. CSC Victim Services provide information to victims who were harmed by an offender serving a sentence of two years or more. Upon request, victims will be provided with information about the offender and the correctional process. Victims can also provide CSC with information about an offender as well as any safety concerns they have.

We are one of the longest operating First Nation Police Services in Canada. Dakota Ojibway Police Service is a recognized self-administered police agency with Headquarters located in Long Plain First Nation providing services to six of the Dakota Ojibway Tribal Council First Nation Communities. Our mandate is to ensure the safety, security, trust and protection of our communities and to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and to honour the cultures, beliefs and traditions of the First Nations' families and communities.

The Elizabeth Fry Society of Manitoba Inc. (EFSM) provides advocacy, access to resources and support to women who are in conflict with the provincial and federal justice systems. Some of the issues our clients struggle to overcome are addiction, poverty, mental health issues, marginalization, racism, long-term effects of residential schools and other forms of discrimination. The majority of women who contact us for help are also victims of abuse and other types of crime and have been systemically involved (child welfare agencies, youth criminal justice and other social services) since childhood. Because these women have also been charged with an offence, accessing victim resources is very challenging and often, unavailable. Some of the programs and resources we offer include: - Bail Verification & Supervision Program (supervision and support for women charged with offences) - Women for Change Program (anger management) - STOPlifting Program (addresses and explores why women shoplift or commit fraud) - Referrals to a wide range of community organizations, services and resources (health treatment, replace lost identification, addictions treatment, shelters, etc) - Transitional Housing (bridging the gap between homelessness and independent living) - Clothing Depot (providing clothing packages to women who are incarcerated or have recently been released from custody as well as provide hygiene items)

MOVA is an organization of survivors of homicide who support other survivors of homicide. My Sister’s House is a second-stage facility – a three apartment complex providing a fresh start to women and children choosing to start a violence-free life. Programs and services are delivered through Aurora House (a crisis facility).

Survivor's Hope Crisis Centre addresses sexual assault and relationship violence in eastern Manitoba. Sexual assault crisis intervention through the SARAH Program supports victims of sexual assault. Educational workshops through the SADI Program inform youth on healthy relationships. The Reaching Out Program engages community and service providers to address violence and supported regional support services.

The Swan Valley Crisis Centre provides women and children, who are experiencing family violence safe housing(crisis accommodation and Interim housing). We offer advocacy, counselling, drop in services and programming. We promote the elimination of family violence through education and the development and support of community based services.

Provides supervised visitation and exchange services fir children and families affected by domestic violence. Fees are charged on a sliding scale to ensure accessibility of services.

Domestic and Family Violence emergency shelter offering emergency housing, counseling, support and advocacy for families exposed to violence. We also offer transitional housing following shelter stay.

The mission of Wahbung Abinoonjiia is to empower children and their families to break the cycle of violence. We do this by providing opportunities for holistic healing through culturally appropriate teachings and activities in a safe and nurturing environment.

The Westman Women's Shelter provides emergency shelter for women or men and their children fleeing intimate partner abuse. We offer Residential Counselling services as well as a Follow-Up program for when you leave the shelter. We also have a Children's program that includes counselling and play therapy. For clients who are not ready to access the Shelter, we offer a Non-Residential program.

Willow Place is a family violence shelter in Winnipeg supporting women dealing with family violence. We provide no-cost 24-hour support, through our support line and shelter for women and children. Offering one to one and group counselling including our out-reach and follow-up program. Children's support and counselling services as well as education on site while in shelter. Advocacy and links to community supports, and public education and training in the community. Phone and referral services for men dealing with family violence.

The Victim Services Section is responsible for providing emotional support, assistance and referrals to victims of crime and/or tragedy, and their families. The Victim Services Section contacts individual families impacted by designated crimes that occur within the City of Winnipeg, as mandated by the Provincial Victim Bill of Rights (excluding female domestic violence victims and victims over the age of 60 – which are handled by Manitoba Justice and Age & Opportunity respectively.) Providing victims with a sense of safety, allowing them a chance for ventilation and validation and giving them timely and accurate information and referrals is the primary goal of the Victim Services Section. The areas where the Section assists most often includes: offering emotional support; providing police case information; providing information about the justice system; providing information about the progress of cases through the courts; providing information on the Victim Bill of Rights and Victim Impact Statements; notifying victims of the police release of accused persons when non-communication orders apply; referring victims and their families to appropriate community resources for follow-up; educating the public and the Winnipeg Police about victimization and the impact of crimes as well as providing information regarding the role of the Victim Services Section. The Section has approximately 25 volunteer caseworkers. The hours of operation are from Monday – Thursday from 08:30 to 21:00 and Friday from 08:30 to 16:00. While referrals are obtained on a daily basis internally from the Winnipeg Police Service, we also accept referrals from citizens, community agencies and police officers.
