IDRC Bulletin ─ September 2005: Focus on Millennium Development Goals
Prev E-Bulletin 8 of 8

In 2000, the United Nations (UN) Member States pledged to meet eight broad targets for development by the year 2015. The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) seek to reduce  poverty, child mortality, and disease prevalence while improving education, health, gender equity, environmental sustainability, and partnership.

Five years into the initiative, the UN hosts its 2005 World Summit in September to evaluate progress toward meeting the MDGs. Along with items of general interest, this issue of IDRC Bulletin focuses on the MDGs and their themes.
